Our Latin American chapter opened with the advisory role to the Jamaican and Guatemalan governments. In 2012, the President of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina, invited Amanda to open the Beckley Foundation’s Latin American Chapter, and to advise him on drug policy matters. President Molina was the first incumbent head of state to publicly call for global drug policy reform, and also to sign the Foundation’s Public Letter calling for an end to the War on Drugs.
In 2015, Jamaican Minister of Justice, Mark Golding, invited Amanda to collaborate with his Ministry and the government in forming a balanced policy for the regulation of the new cannabis industry in Jamaica. In 2016 Mark Golding and a Jamaican delegation accompanied Amanda Feilding to UNGASS, where they co-hosted the launch of the Beckley Foundation’s 2016 Public Letter.
