A pilot study carried out by the Beckley/Exeter Research Programme found that cannabidiol (CBD) helped smokers cut down the number of cigarettes smoked by as much as 40% over the course of several weeks following treatment. To build on this, the next study will also include a brain imaging component to assess the brain activity patterns underlying the probable therapeutic effects of CBD.
